My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My desire as a counselor is to help clients find freedom and develop confidence, strength, and resilience. My hope for anyone I work with is to no longer be defined by their experiences but to gain the tools and tangible skills needed to navigate conflict, stress, and times of suffering. I want my clients to be able to break free from feeling defeat related to the past, present, or future. In addition, my aim is for clients to engage in introspection and gain a deeper understanding of themselves to change maladaptive patterns and feelings of powerlessness over their emotions and circumstances.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to share their stories, including both current and past circumstances. My hope is that through my customized therapeutic approach, you will leave each session with a sense of direction as well as tangible goals for the week ahead to put into practice what is discussed and learned in therapy. I believe that doing the work during the week following therapy is just as important as therapy itself. In short, my sessions consist of learning to voice and validate your experience and determining how to move forward while gaining personal insight about yourself and your path toward growth.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
Integrating psychology and theology is an essential part of healing because what we believe about God directly relates to how we see ourselves and how we construct schemas and narratives about our circumstances. The Bible is also filled with others’ experiences of emotions and pain. Engaging with these Scriptures allows the client’s pain to feel seen. In addition, the Bible also provides the example that it is okay to ask God hard questions about suffering and it displays how God shows up in the midst of pain. I also believe that emotional healing and spiritual healing are connected – as we grow emotionally, we are able to grow spirituality. Being able to connect with God in the emotional healing process also invites us to find deeper meaning in our lives.
